Dimensional Criminals: A One-Shot RPG [Free]

Dimensional Criminals: A One-Shot RPG [Free]:

Steal a rare and valuable car while jumping through different realities. Do you need a tool you don't have? Change dimensions. Are the cops on your tail? Change dimensions. Did you jump your car off a ramp but now there's a helicopter directly in your way? Change dimensions.

But watch out. Each time you change dimensions, there's a chance that the dimensional authorities will catch up with you. Keep one step ahead (or ideally, several steps ahead) and finish this one last job. Because there's always one last job.

Heroes of Hyrule version 0.2 [Free]

Heroes of Hyrule version 0.2 [Free]:

lYoEdc.jpg

Heroes of Hyrule is a fan-made tabletop rpg that is set in the world of Hyrule from the Legend of Zelda series.

Hyrule has seen peace for an age, but now monsters are appearing in greater numbers, seemingly creeping up from forgotten temples and dark corners. Murmurs are being made of ancient legends of a calamity. In Heroes of Hyrule players take on the role of character in Hyrule investigating and exploring the land. It is set in the years before the rise of Ganon, but is designed to systemise the world of Zelda and allow you to play whatever story you might want.

The Game

Heroes of Hyrule is a work in progress, but is currently fully playable, though is missing some content.

This is a very rough and ready bare-bones first glance. It's not really been written for new roleplayers at this point and it's got huge chunks of janky or missing content.

The primary goals for Heroes of Hyrule are:To give the unique tribes of Hyrule unique gameplay and give characters a distinct mechanical identity. To have the various main elements of the Zelda games into a satisfying ttrpg (dodge&guard based combat, varied monsters, adventure, riding, items & gadgets, music)

To create a core combat system that is dynamic but tactically satisfying.

What it includes:
Basic Character creation - This guide covers the steps on how to make a character.
Standard Rules - This guide includes all the rules to be able to play the standard combat/dungeon crawling game (I hope).
Seven Tribes - Information and traits for the Seven playable Tribes. Gerudo, Goron, Hylian, Korok, Rito, Zora.
Talent Trees - Talent tree graphics for a large range of character abilties in a range of different trades.
Weapons - A short list of starter weapons for charactrs and monsters.
Monsters - A short list of low-level monsters.

Glaring Omissions:
Riding rules - There's currently no specific rules for riding mounts.
Talent explanations - Currently I've been focussing on getting the trees, and the basic concept of the talents done, so the more comprehensive explanations are not currently in the system.
Talent gaps - Many talent nodes have not been written out, or even decided upon yet.
Music - I want to implement a music systemt hat does justice to the wide range of uses that Music has within the games. However my first prototype for this needed a lot of workshopping and so it isn't in the game currently.
Session Guidance - I have not written up any sort of guidance for running HoH sessions or being a GM with this system.
Weapon list - There is currently a fairly limited list of starting level weapons but it is not huge.
Monster list - There is currently a small list of sample low level monsters. Many more to come.
Armour - Currently I have not added armours, their mechanics or stats.
Fluff - This version is very light on fluff and lore. This will however be one of the last things to be added.
Much more - There is a lot I intend to plump out, alter and add, this list is just a snapshot of some of the more major parts.

If you notice anything wrong (Typos, inconsistent language, rules you'd expect to see but can't) or have any feedback on the guide please feel free to send me a message on Patreon. However please do be mindful of the fact that this is a wildly unfinished work that has not been significantly playtested (yet).

It is also worth noting that currently a lot of the game is represented in images (the Talent trees specifically) and due to the work-in-progress nature of the piece I have not had the time to make it all screen reader friendly yet. However this is something that will be more of a priority now that it is publicly available and will be an element of the finished game!

Enjoy! This is available for free and will never be otherwise. All intellectual property related to the legend of Zelda belongs to Nintendo.

However if you wish to support me making ttrpgs you can do so over at my Patreon. Or purchase my other games.

there is the veil, and there are those who wander it. entities are weary, tired, and most of all, lost. every so often, the fog lifts and the veil weakens, and two lonely souls are allowed to make a connection, however brief it may be

but they are not alone.

the medium alone has the power to pierce the veil. it seeps through the fabric, bypassing that which binds mortals and transcending beyond. through its own means it has joined connected two distant souls.

but it has motives of its own.

the veil around us is dark and strange. it catches souls and holds them apart. it is dotted by spirits, lost and alone, searching for away back to their old lives or passage onto the next.

We Have Killed Dracula And Now We Must Stand Vigil Over His Body Until The Dawn Has Come [Free]: by @SprintingOwl

It is only after the gunshots have finished ringing in your ears, after the sound of pry-bars on wood, after the husk has been dragged out of his final refuge and transfixed with a spar of hawthorn that you allow yourself to breathe.

The task is done.

Well, mostly done.

Around you, Seward and Murray and Harker and Holmwood look similarly exhausted. Coming here, delivering this blow, has taken almost everything out of you, but there is still one last, slow matter to attend to.

The count's body must see sunrise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We Have Killed Dracula is a game about making sure a monster stays dead.

You play by hanging out with some friends until the small hours of the morning, and by watching Dracula's corpse to make sure it doesn't try anything.

Most nights, you head out to hunt when other teenagers are just enjoying being kids.

Miss Alignment Answers Your Question from the Heart [Free]

Miss Alignment Answers Your Question from the Heart [Free]: by @Groundhoggoth

Miss Alignment is here to challenge your pre-conceptions about traditional alignment systems in this silly story game of creating original responses to hypothetical situations. You can play this solo, as a journal writing game, but the more players the merrier; a way to keep notes may help but isn’t a requirement. Parodying familiar RPG tropes like classes and alignments, you write letters to the advice columnist Miss Alignment, who then suggests an alignment change that would produce better results!

Cosmic Cutthroats [$9.99]

Cosmic Cutthroats [$9.99]:

Cosmic Cutthroats is an RPG of adventure and exploration through endless worlds. Your scavengers, exiles, and freeloaders can come from any place, any time, fighting tyranny and seeking new highs through unimaginable realms!

About Cosmic Cutthroats

  • Traditional RPG with some narrative touches. With the flexible point-based character creation system, you can be anything you can imagine! Everyone is welcome.
  • Task resolution is 2d12 + mods, roll high. Matches are Triumphs (crits), or Mishaps (fumbles).
  • Supports any level of play from bumbling goons to cosmic paragons. NPC creation is nice and quick, and random tables help you design a new dimension quickly.
  • Point costs ramp up slowly but definitely to reduce power bloat. It's much harder to be God of Everything by dumping all your points into one thing! It's okay to play a bit of a generalist!
  • Includes an optional setting: the ancient interdimensional metropolis of Uru Ulan, ruled by an immortal Sumerian sorcerer. The city is strewn throughout the rocks of the rings of Saturn, with districts of starships, magic, elves, superhuman mutants, and many different cultures from Earth history.
  • Cover art by Juan Ochoa, with interior art by Gennifer Bone, Khairul Hisham, Bradley K. McDevitt, James V. West, Emily Vitori.

Caveat

  • While not really an 'adult' title, Cosmic Cutthroats is not really recommended for the kiddos, either. Contains some mild adult content, mostly offhand references to sex and casual drug use. This is a game, folks. We urge all hard-partying adventurers to booze it up throughout spacetime responsibly.

Distant Stars Awaiting [Free]

Distant Stars Awaiting [Free]: by @RoboticaBirdie

You are a group of immortal wanderers, rocketing from place to place with no respect for law, order, or the linear flow of time. Forever can get pretty boring, so you spend your days seeking out a good time wherever you can, often in the form of observing (and meddling in) the latest interstellar drama. The stories you watch are tragedies more often than not. The only victories are pyrrhic ones, and any survivors lose much more than they gain. But even if the ending is a forgone conclusion, you're still going to stick around to see how it all falls apart.

To play, you will need:

  •  2-6 people
  • A deck of playing cards (no jokers)
  • Paper, notecards or a shared online document to keep notes

Credits:

Distant Stars Awaiting was written for the Record Collection 2021 Jam, and is inspired by the band The Mechanisms. Their music can be found here.

Sons of Liberty [Free]

Sons of Liberty [Free]: by @joshroby

Have you ever had Alexander Hamilton wind up your clockwork power armor, then jumped out of Thomas Paine's ornithopter, and landed in the middle of the Battle of Yorktown to punch General Cornwallis in the face?

No?

Well... would you like to?

Freedom and Badassery

Sons of Liberty is a roleplaying game like no other. Take on the role of the Founding Fathers to kick ass and take names for truth, justice, and the American way in the only Roleplaying Game of Freedom and Badassery.

The game's fast-paced card mechanics ensure high-action madness and revolutionary heroics. If you are playing Benjamin Franklin and you aren't swinging an electrified kite over your head to clear the streets of redcoats, then you are playing it wrong.

This is the kind of roleplaying game where you have to call a break to catch your breath.

Brass Tacks

  • The game works best for four to six players (including the Tory player GM-like role).
  • The basic game setting, Arcade Mode, pits a handful of Founding Fathers against a dastardly plot, which usually takes two to three hours of madcap action to defeat.
  • Campaign Mode strings multiple levels together to tell the madcap story of the entire American Revolution. Progress through the three stages of the Revolution, swapping out characters (and players) as you like, until you win your freedom... or seal your country's doom.
  • Versus Mode allows two players to face off after the American Revolution when the Founding Fathers must battle each other to determine how best to govern their fledgling nation. Two players, one hour, zero prep.

None is greater than the British Empire -- and none has more to lose. Join the Royal Astronomical Navy and protect the rights and prosperity of the greatest nation on earth.

God save the Queen!

Roleplaying with Character

Full Light, Full Steam is a steampunk space opera roleplaying game with a strong emphasis on character.

  • Point-Buy Character Creation allows you to create any flavor of naval officer that takes your fancy, from hotshot fighter pilots to gruff, hardscrabble captains to upperclass engineering chiefs who rose by nepotism and haven't the faintest idea how anything on the ship actually works.
  • The game's Thematic Batteries mechanic places character at the center of play, both in terms of roleplay as well as creating adventures that bring those characters to life.
  • The Spoils system guides players in highlighting each other's strengths and weaknesses, making characterization happen all around the table throughout the game.

This is a complete roleplaying game, ready-to-play, in a single volume. The game includes sample characters and a sample adventure, so can be played without any prep whatsoever. Drowning in Blood [Free]

Drowning in Blood [Free]: by @Fandible

7Tx%2FPK.png

I never liked Halloween. It wasn’t that I was against free candy - what kid is? It was the costumes and atmosphere that permeated every aspect of life leading up to that night. Haunted Houses sprung up and scary movies would release to the theaters. We paraded around monsters as entertainment, amused rather than scared.

Only a fool would believe in monsters, huh?

Well, they fooled us all. I still remember the late-night hosts roasting that Senator who tried to expose the bloodsuckers on national TV. I laughed as they said “the only thing sucking for that Senator was his poll numbers.”

We should have listened. I should have listened. Because now we know the Senator was right. The End of the World isn’t exciting - it just sucks.

Drowning in Blood is a scenario where espionage and horror come to a head. For centuries, vampiric society has watched from the shadows, waiting for their bloody history to turn into simple legend and myth told around the campfire. They’ve embedded themselves into corporations, government, and society, and now, after a medical breakthrough, are ready to enact their ultimate plan.

As Vampire myth turns into a blood-splattered reality, the PCs must sink or swim as the world is drowning in blood.

Entropy [$19.99]

Entropy [$19.99]: by @Stormforge_P

lAGuqu.jpg

This is the universe of Entropy. In the near future of the 2170s, after the chaos of the "Shroud War", the galactic community is recovering in a world of alien political intrigue, criminal underworlds, and esoteric cults, awaken by the now eldritch truth of the universe.

Play as one of the twenty-five playable races, and join factions from outer space, to fight in an intense, dark, and passionate Sci-Fi universe with the ever dreadful push of the eldritch in the background.

Play as mercenaries or explorers, fighting other treasure hunters and looters, or stay in the civilized areas to struggle against reality itself in this mature universe inspired by the works of HP. Lovecraft.

THE SYSTEM

Entropy is a game using a personalized version of the percentile system, using a progression feature without the need for classes or levels and a unique mythos. Players will gain experience as they roleplay their characters, complete objectives, and survive in this punishing experience.

The players will have full freedom on what they will focus their character on, and what they will do to deal with problems in this unrestrained system — the more dangerous, the better the reward.

Try to keep your sanity in check as you risk more and more to get as powerful as possible, or die trying!

THE GOAL

The theme of Entropy is to allow a mature group to play in an immersive roleplay game, with the possibility for intense technical combat on top. The Game Masters will have the choice to focus on one or both ideas freely and to inspire themselves from the base game to add more items, spells, monsters, and so much more. The game will have multiple expansions in the future, but the main book is filled with all you need for nights of fun! Keep in mind this book may contain horror, mature, and disturbing themes, which are all consolidated to create a dark future, where hope is what the group needs to be victorious, even if indulging in the evil deeds is also a choice in itself.

And no matter the quality of steel, a part stretched too far will inevitably break. Who breaks first?

You will need at least one tumbling block tower to play.

v 0.8: playable core, but needs examples, safety tools and art.

The Duel [Free]

The Duel [Free]: by @Joewul1

0%2FVGyA.png

"The Duel" is a GM-less combat-based RPG system.

The main game includes play modes for one, two, or more players, and also includes guidelines on using this game as a supplementary combat system within another RPG.

There is often a struggle with making combat in TTRPGs interesting, and so I have tried to make a system that has engaging, dynamic gameplay that is suited to telling the narrative of a martial combat scenario as it unfolds.

The system uses overarching 'actions' that can be used to describe anything a player may want to their character to perform. The system can also be applied to any weapon you like, as the creative aspects of the system are largely limited only by your imagination.

This is my first project, so I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. I hope you enjoy it!

Imagine that you are a faction of freedom fighters. You are only one step from your biggest action, planned for months. It’s the only opportunity to bring awaited changes in your country. But today, you got the message. One of you has been caught by the secret police. You know what they are capable of. By now, they surely know everything about you. What will you do?

Or imagine that you are a group of xenoarchaeologists who have brought an ancient mummy from a distant planet. After you had departed for uour homeworld, you discovered that mummy is not as dead as you thought. Now, you have to survive. But you also need to remember that your bosses want the mummy undamaged.  And they’re not nice people. You don't want to make them angry.

Lines In The Sand is a rules-light no-prep GM-less card game about staying faithful to values in the time of crisis. It is also a game about the consequences of betraying values. Is it true that morals can prevent us from doing what is right?

How much are we willing to sacrifice to achieve a common goal? Is the group ready to make harsh choices to survive? Will they betray their own principles to do what is right? How will they behave? Will they overcome this ?

Be a hero. You pick the hours!

This is not the core rulebook for #iHunt, but instead the bare minimum tools to play. It’s a reference guide so you can make your hunters, pit them against monsters, and tell cool stories.

If you have the #iHunt core rulebook, then this book is an invaluable quick reference of particular value at the table when players need to make characters or find a rule quickly.

Additionally, this book features a crew of hunters fully built and fleshed out with motivations, a hangout, and enemies. And it has a toolkit adventure ready to play! This way you can just jump right into your first game.

While you can technically play with this book alone, it's a bare minimum reference guide and quickstart adventure. We recommend having a copy of the #iHunt RPG as well. However, this is a great entry point if you can't quite afford the full book, or don't have time to read a 300+ page RPG tome.

A Solo Puzzle Life Simulation RPG

Something is off, only you can't really figure out what it is. You took a glance in the mirror to take inventory of yourself, and you seemed to look the same.... but you don't feel the same. On the way to work, you almost get hit by a car, but you manage to avoid it without slowing down or taking evasive maneuvers. It feels strange... as if there were no chance the car could hit you. As you begin your work routine, everything moves along smoothly, right up to the point you find you need to hustle... and you can't. You can't speed up how fast you go, and perhaps even more disturbingly, you can't slow it down either. The ability to fail or succeed wildly is gone, replaced by a rather adequate, average competency. It's only when you get home and look in the mirror again wondering if this is all in your head that you start to feel aware of that feeling of effort again as you gaze into your own eyes... and you push, changing their color. You can feel that ability to push and change, succeed or fail, only... only it's aspects of your very being. Is there a way to make this work out for you? ***

Indeterminate is a solo RPG slice of life game, with a puzzling twist. While designed to be whimsical and philosophical, as the star, you set the tone and mood for this game.

Whispers from the Thousand Moons [$4.99]

Whispers from the Thousand Moons [$4.99]: by @jenkatwrites

xL0iIv.png

The Thousand Moons is a fragmented region in the furthest reaches of outer space. The name is misleading — there are perhaps hundreds of thousands of Moons here, maybe millions, each one tiny and unique. A perpetual gravity storm rages around this astral archipelago, making entry into the Thousand Moons — or exit from them — quite difficult.

No Moon in the Thousand Moons is bigger than a speck of dust, in the scheme of things. Each one can accommodate only a few people for any length of time, so the few beings — humans and aliens alike — who eke out their livings here tend towards transiency. The Thousand Moons are safe, and they are quiet, though they are far from perfect.

You are a Seneschal of the Thousand Moons. You have been tasked with the care and protection of the Moons — as many as you may visit in what time you have. You stay around two weeks on each Moon you visit, to learn and explore and solve any problems you may encounter. No two Moons are the same, flung here in pieces from disparate galaxies, so there is a great deal to learn and explore.

All Seneschals keep journals, and often leave them behind as a gift to future Seneschals who may arrive on the same Moon. It is exceedingly rare to meet another Seneschal face-to-face — there are so few of you and space is so large — but there is a vast network of you, connected across time and space only by each other’s journals.

---

This is a storytelling game, where you will write the journal of a Seneschal on a new Moon, using randomized word prompts, like Magnetic Poetry, a commercially available set of poetic words printed on refrigerator magnets.

In order to download this game you must purchase it at or above the minimum price of $4.99 USD. You will get access to the following files:

This is an ash-can version of Ashes of the Magi, a story creation engine that prompts players to remember and recover themselves and society from the horrors of the Day of Wrath, when apocalyptic magic scarred the world. This 'game' is in active development and as such the mechanics have changed from where this document leaves them. Please consider this version a sneak peak at what a final version might look like.

Tagger Magic [$1.00]: by @trulyrural

In the modern era occultists use painted street art to channel magic into reality altering spells. But with after effects that could tear apart the streets around them. Tagger Magic is set using the WaRP OGL from Atlas Games but is simple enough that it could be transferred over to others systems with ease. So grab some spray cans and change the city around you.

Speed of Light [$3.00]

Speed of Light [$3.00]: by @heavenspider

In Speed of Light, you will be Intellects aboard an observation vessel. Your mission is to be the last thoughts of a universe, dying to the Big Rip.

In 30 minutes, everything - everything - will be scattered to light. What will you remember and think in that time?

Speed of Light is a one-page collaborative game about thinking alone. Every once in a while, your messages will manage to reach each other. But the universe is growing apart and the next message will take longer to reach them. And, soon, they will never reach anyone, for there is nothing left.

It's a thinking game.

This game, as it is, has bare art and only minimal layout - this project will be updated as sales allow me to afford such efforts.

In order to download this game you must purchase it at or above the minimum price of $3 USD. You will get access to the following files:

Howling [$5.00]

Howling [$5.00]: by @heavenspider

"I wonder how great it would be, to be a werewolf."

Howling is a tabletop roleplaying game, where four players tell a story together about someone who becomes a werewolf out of anger and frustration. This happens as four players disrupt each other and as their choices become limited due to rage.

In Howling, players will take on abstract roles about a single character: their own choices, their feelings, their thoughts, and the world outside them. It is a somewhat unconventional game.

This game is about anger, an unpleasant emotion. Please do not purchase or play this game if you are uncomfortable with the subject matter.

In order to download this game you must purchase it at or above the minimum price of $5 USD. You will get access to the following files:

DistopiaRPG is a simple and beginner-friendly turn-based Tabletop RPG System with elements of survival that takes place in a Steampunk/Cyberpunk/Clockpunk World.

GAEA

A group of merchants walks down the streets of a small town near the mountains, with no trace of technology while some kilometres from there, soldiers are training with their machine guns in a training centre in the middle of a huge metropolis with the skies filled with steam from the factories.

Welcome to GAEA, a dystopian world where the events of DistopiaRPG take place! In Gaea, you can find Ancient Abur Dragons on forgotten mountains while armies move around the land on their Metal Crusaders!

ORIGINAL RACES

Play with races that were created especially for this game, each one with their own attributes, characteristics and skills!!!

Play as a mighty genderless Madonian or as an exotic and agile Vuelian! Maybe you prefer to be an intelligent and tall Terserctor or a wise but not so social Nuen!

Don't worry, we (Humans) live in Gaea as well if you don't want to try something new!

HAND-DRAWN ARTWORKS

All the artworks for the game are handmade! Each Item, Equipment piece, Vehicle, Race, Monster and NPC was created with high-quality coloured pencils.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION, THERE ARE NO LIMITS

Being a simple system, DistopiaRPG gives you the opportunity for you to put that character or monster from that movie, book, series, anime, etc that you love into Gaea just filling a few fields of the Templates Book.

You can create Items, Equipment, Vehicles, Races, NPCs and Monsters using the Templates we provide and encourage you to adapt the things you love and create your own! Give Gaea a personal touch and make it your new home!

GAME SUMMARY

  • 5 PLAYABLE RACES (FOUR ORIGINAL ONES)

FUTURE OF THE PROJECT

I'll be working on new Expansion Packs (Free and Paid) that will bring more content for the game as well as new mechanisms.

If the community of the game gets big, I'll work on a platform for players to share their creations with other players and maybe even companion app to help and enhance the experience of the game.

KISHU [$16.00]

KISHU [$16.00]: by @DomLiotti

In the 18 years since the alien outworlders first made contact with humanity, the hypercapitalism of the Second Industrial Revolution has brought about an unstoppable climate apocalypse.

The remaining disparate landmasses of Earth are now connected over the radioactive sea by great bridges known as Ultrahighways. These treacherous asphalt frontiers, crawling with violent motorcycle clubs, are all that separates you and your gang from bringing a mysterious alien artifact to the People’s Resistance: humanity’s last hope to wrench itself from beneath the bootheel of the global military police and the reign of the God-King Ronald Reagan.

Navigate the Ultrahighways, evade the MP, and withstand ravaging superstorms with nothing but your gang, your cycle, and a mission: deliver the artifact at all costs.

KISHU is a tabletop roleplaying game made for Zine Quest 2, 2019. It is available on itch via this page in digital format or in physical paperback form on DriveThruRPG.
