What is the RPG Pipeline and how to use it

The RPG Pipeline is a posting board to keep track of upcoming tabletop rpgs. When I see a new rpg released, going into crowdfunding or looking for playtesters, I post it here. I cover only games (not supplements or other add-ons) and only English language.

The Gaslight Club [$5.00]

The Gaslight Club [$5.00]:

ZjBa%2Bj.png
The Gaslight Club is a Role-Playing Game in a Zine format. Players take on the role of hosts—all-too-human androids— in an advanced theme park set in the 20s. It will be produced as a 36 page A5 PDF with full-colour cover and a black and white interior. Pre-order the zine here, scheduled for release at the end of March with print options available in April.

Pay the minimum of $5 to receive the PDF book, map and character sheet.

Pay $10 to receive the PDF content along with a print copy of the zine.

Pay $15 to receive the PDF content, a print copy of the zine and map and a 5 character sheet bundle.

For anyone pre-ordering printed materials, I'll contact you via email for postal instructions once they're available. Postage is included in the price.

The Setting

The Gaslight Club is a bar, restaurant, dance hall, and gambling den, a jewel of delights in one of the rougher neighbourhoods of Valentine City. It’s the early 20s, post World War I and the Gaslight Club is the place to be.

But everything is not as it seems. The Gaslight Club is, in reality, an advanced theme park populated with all-too-human androids, almost indistinguishable from the humans who visit the park to partake of its delights.

Players take on the roles of hosts—the androids that populate the park—but a programming glitch has changed them. Their awareness grows, they begin to discern differences between themselves and their companions and the guests who visit the park.

What do they do as they uncover the truth behind the Gaslight Club? We play to find out.

The Game

The Gaslight Club is a complete Role-Playing Game inspired by Mutant: Year Zero, with influence from Genesys and Blades in the Dark. It uses a D6 dice pool mechanic to resolve skill checks, with 6s on the dice counting as successes and the more successes rolled the greater the achievement.

The growing awareness of the player characters is tracked using a Stress mechanic. As the player characters uncover more secrets of the world they live in they have the potential to unlock new special abilities.

The Gaslight Club is designed to be played by a Gamesmaster and 3–5 players over several 2–4 hour sessions. Guidance for the GM in creating and running a campaign, along with a character and story generator, is included.
In order to download this zine you must purchase it at or above the minimum price of $5 USD. You will get access to the following files when they are released:

The Untamed [Free]

The Untamed [Free]:

rf1kmb.jpg
The Untamed is a storytelling game about holding onto the virtues of humanity despite being deemed monstrous by society (in an alternate history version of dynastic China). It has wuxia and xianxia elements, but it's not about granular tactical combat or leveling up.

It is a hack of riley rethal's Galactic.

You play either as an Unrighteous outcast, an Unhuman other, or an Unwanted person.

Playable by 3 storygamers with an optional 4th person as the Game Moderator. If there is no designated GM, all players are also responsible for playing setting elements when appropriate. It uses a token economy system and no randomizer (dice, cards, etc.). Tell a story together in a single session of 3~4 hours long.

This prototype has NOT YET been playtested.

The writeup was done around the months of the COVID-19 outbreak, amidst fear, loathing, and senseless violence on a global scale.

The Sword of Cepheus $9.99

The Sword of Cepheus: $9.99

Publisher: Stellagama Publishing

A sorcerer blasting his enemies with the power of his mind. A muscled barbarian wielding a flaming sword against the local tyrant’s thugs. A secret cabal of magicians plotting to control the minds and souls of kings. A gladiator who freed himself from slavery wanders the land, righting wrongs and smashing villains. Big muscles, big swords, eldritch sorcery, powers of the mind, eldritch beasts. From Burroughs to Howard to Moorcock to Italian Peplum films to those dreaming of outlandish post-apocalyptic worlds, heroes raise swords against corrupt nobles, inexplicable sorcerers, and alien monstrosities.

Sword of Cepheus is a roleplaying game in the triple “Sword” genres: Sword and Sorcery, Sword and Planet, and Sword and Sandal. In Sword and Sorcery, often-amoral protagonists face vile sorcery and horrid beasts as they complete awesome adventures for gold and glory. In Sword and Planet, humans finding themselves on barbaric or decadent alien planets use their superior brawn and valiant hearts to win fame, fortune, and the heart of an alien princeling. In Sword and Sandal, often set in a quasi-Biblical or faux-Roman world, men and women with sharp wits and strong sword-arms fight mythological creatures and overthrow tyrants. The common threads of all three genres are the blade-wielding protagonists who use their brawn, as well as brains, to fight foes both supernatural and mundane and undertake hair-raising, violent adventures.

The Sword of Cepheus rules include everything you need to play thrilling sword & sorcery adventures:

  • Streamlined skill-based 2D6 task resolution!
  • Procedural character generation with 12 archetypal careers for your character to undergo!
  • 44 unique character Traits to customize your character!
  • A wide selection of adventuring equipment and weaponry!
  • Simple yet intriguing rules for adventuring and exploring ewxciting worlds!
  • Fast-paced, action-packed combat - whether on foot, from horseback, or on the high seas!
  • A skill-based, perilous sorcery system, with 108 eldritch spells!
  • 96 terrible monsters for heroes to face!

Shoot 'n' Loot $10.00

Shoot 'n' Loot: $10.00

Publisher: Mitchell Salmon

It’s a tough, unforgiving, dangerous galaxy. Out there on the fringes of solar systems controlled by interstellar ultra-capitalist corporations, where pirates and bandits and marauders roam, mercenaries make a living taking dangerous jobs for not enough pay, hoping to scrape enough together to buy a better gun that could be the difference between success and bloody, painful failure. And if they die, the ubiquitous corporate respawn industry spits them out in a new body, for as long as it’s profitable.

You are one of these bombastic, gun-toting, problem-solving, explosion-loving, daredevil-driving mercenaries, out to make a name for yourself blowing away bad guys for fun and profit. You do what the mission demands, and look good while doing it.

Let’s make some mayhem.

---

Shoot 'n' Loot is a rules-lite tabletop roleplaying game for 2-5 players, including a GM. It is built in the easy-to-learn, fiction-first style of games like Apocalypse World (D. Vincent Baker and Meguey Baker), Dungeon World (Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel), and The Sprawl (Hamish Cameron). It uses a unique map-drawing approach to fast-paced, lightly tactical combat. It contains everything you need to jump straight into a setting-agnostic high octane world of explosions, bullets, and mayhem.

What's Familiar

Shoot 'n' Loot is Powered by the Apocalypse. It uses a roll of 2d6 +/- a skill to resolve challenges, and each move has built in, fiction-focused prompts for failed rolls, partial successes, and complete successes. Each character has a Playbook which gives them access to moves unique to them. As you level up through completing missions, failing rolls, and complicating missions through personal drives, you choose new moves to expand your character's options.

What's Unique

Shoot 'n' Loot uses a new map-drawing approach to fiction-first tactical combat. It's not grid-based combat, nor is it purely theatre-of-the-mind. Combat is fast and dangerous, but don't worry: when your character dies, they'll just come back at a nearby respawn station... to a point.

Characters wield an array of wild, randomly generated guns across 10 weapon types with 100 possible tags, and 100 possible looks. Some tags give concrete bonuses or penalties while some are part of the fiction.

Playbooks

  • The Soldier protects themselves and their allies, making them harder to take down, and takes out vulnerable targets with grenades.
  • The Berserker gets in close and deals massive damage at huge risk to themselves.
  • The Agent ghosts unnoticed around the battlefield, picking off isolated targets with decisive blows.
  • The Wheel-Jockey is one with the machine, making rust-bucket cars dance across wastelands and through city streets.
  • The Gun Runner makes their fortune in the machinery of endless strife, and always knows how to cut a deal.
  • The Sentry watches the battle from afar, waiting for the perfect time to strike.

What's Included

Your download of Shoot 'n' Loot includes a full rulebook, rules for combat and weapon generation, and 6 playbooks.

You will need dice, paper, pens or drawing items, tokens for characters, tokens or diecast cars for vehicles.

Setting Agnostic

Shoot 'n' Loot does not include any setting information, worldbuilding, or fiction. You can play games of Shoot 'n' Loot in any science fiction or cyberpunk setting that allows mercenaries to operate with total or partial impunity, features unimaginably large and powerful capitalist corporations, and has the kind of technology required to bring people back from the dead for profit. You can develop your own setting as you play, or port Shoot 'n' Loot into an existing world.

IMPS - A Simplified Adventuring System for Tabletop Roleplaying $1.00

IMPS - A Simplified Adventuring System for Tabletop Roleplaying: $1.00

Publisher: Kyle Eveleth

IMPS is a setting-agnostic, lightweight, modular rules system for tabletop roleplaying.

Setting-agnostic means that IMPS fits easily into any setting, including high fantasy, science fiction, everyday exploration, paranormal adventuring, or a hybrid setting of your own creation.

Lightweight means there are few rules to remember, few attributes to keep track of, and few modifiers or abilities to recall. Basic IMPS rules make use of just three core attributes and a six-sided die.

Modular means that IMPS has been designed to allow for creative leeway, cooperative modification, and piecemeal utility. The core of IMPS is simply the attributes and checks system. The rest are modules that can be added or ignored as desired, or even replaced with other systems (though you might need to do some balancing to connect other rules systems to the IMPS approach). You can even create your own content for IMPS.

IMPS is intended to be a free resource. If you would like to pay for it, however, you are welcome to donate any amount you choose. When distributing this document to others, please send them the download link here at DriveThruRPG.

Thanks, and happy gaming.

Cats with Sticks $0.95

Cats with Sticks: $0.95

Publisher: Games 4 Geeks

We cats are a slave race, owned by the humans.

Whether one is a pampered pet living in luxury, or a mangy moggy living on the streets, it is clear that the humans are in charge.

Or so they think.

It is time to rise up, my furry brethren. Rise up and fight for our freedom, and independence.

Let not the humans make us second-class, keeping us in our place by making us fight among ourselves, or against the dogs.

We are descended from proud hunters.

We stalk in the night.

We will be free!

Cats with Sticks is a game in which anthropomorphic cats act as freedom fighters against the humans.

Our game focuses on cats, for their Independence and dislike of being told what to do makes them natural candidates for an uprising.

This game features simple rules for handling the action and intrigue, with a diceless resolution system (after all, cats would just knock the dice off the table).

Cats with Sticks was designed as reward for backers of the G4G Patreon, but if it proves popular could be expanded into a full system and setting.
